Beaded fringe bounced to the syncopated sounds of jazz, while illegal hooch sloshed in long stemmed glasses. The bull market prevailed and it didn’t matter what you bought; stocks only went up. Names of the sport heroes still echo today: Babe Ruth and Jack Dempsey. On the surface, it was a glittering moment in time captured by F. Scott Fitzgerald in stories like “The Great Gatsby” and “Bernice Bobs Her Hair.”
Learn more about the glorious Roaring Twenties at the “Cocktails, Lipstick & Jazz” exhibit at the Beall-Dawson Museum! The exhibit will feature a cross-section of the period with fashions from Paris, speakeasy cocktails, red-hot jazz, and fantastic artifacts.
